Mr Pickles Has Escaped the Jar. Here’s the Soundtrack.

A pickle with a clothing brand was apparently too quiet. So we gave him a discography.

Mr Pickles is the musical alter ego of Pickles Apparel, and the world around him keeps getting stranger. The clothes, the artwork, the characters, the songs: they all belong to the same place. A place where a black pickle with yellow eyes can stare back from an album cover and somehow make perfect sense on your chest.

If you found us through a shirt, welcome to the other side of the jar. If you found us through a song, yes, there are clothes. We should probably have mentioned that sooner.

The joke opens the door. The music has to earn the replay.

We know what the name sounds like. You see “Mr Pickles,” you expect a punchline, and you give it a few seconds. Fair enough. But the point is to make something you actually want to come back to. A ridiculous premise can get your attention. It still needs a reason to stay in your rotation.

That is where this whole project lives: humor, atmosphere, a little discomfort, and a world that gets more interesting the longer you spend in it. The artist bio calls that world the Brine Unconscious. There are strange characters, questionable appetites, and a distinct feeling that somebody opened something they should have left sealed.

You don't need to study the mythology before you press play. The door is open. Follow whatever catches your ear.

Everything on the shelf right now

Pick your way in

For the newest chapter, start with The End (Soundcheck), released October 1. A title like that is a fairly dramatic way to introduce yourself, but subtle entrances have never been this pickle's thing.

If you want more room to explore, Ascension EP has five tracks: “On My Brine,” “Rolling Deep,” “Gary Got Got,” “Vinegar in my veins,” and “Ascension.” Spotify credits Gherkin Gary alongside Mr Pickles on the first two. Even the tracklist suggests there are characters in here with unfinished business.

Then head back to Pickles Apparel, the five-track EP that puts the brand name right on the cover. You can move through the releases in order, start with the artwork that grabs you, or jump straight to the title that makes you ask what the hell is going on. All valid methods.

One world, different ways in

Look at the covers together. The eyes, the odd figures, the colors, the slightly unsettling scenes all start talking to each other. The artwork gives the music a face. The songs give the characters somewhere to go. The clothing lets that world leave the screen and turn up wherever you do.

That connection is what makes this fun to build. A shirt can start a conversation. A song can send someone looking for the character on the sleeve. Each piece adds another detail, and you get to decide how far down the jar you want to go.

Listen on Spotify or Apple Music. Find your favorite, save it, and give it another spin. If you want something to wear into the Brine Unconscious, the Pickles Apparel collection is here.

Press play. Stay brined.
